Civil Litigation

What is Civil Litigation?

Civil Litigation is also called ‘Dispute Resolution’. It refers to a process through which a legal dispute between parties is resolved. Civil litigation particularly deals with private and civil matters, such as contract disputes, family disputes, or personal injury cases.

How does it work?

In order to prevent court action, which can become very time-consuming and costly, civil cases often go through an ‘Alternative Dispute Resolution’ process. This is a way to reach an agreement or settlement between the claimant and the defendant at an early stage of their dispute through negotiation or mediation.

However, when the dispute is unable to be resolved at this stage, the case must be concluded by court litigation. The claimant can start this by filling a Claim Form at a county court. Further court proceedings may involve hearings and appeals that require you to be at the court.L
