Employment Law

What is Employment Law?

Employment Law, or Labour Law, mainly deals with the relationship between an employee and an employer. It handles issues such as:

Employment Contracts – An employment Contract is an agreement between an employer and an employee on his or her employment conditions. An issue can arise if the contract is breached, or not communicated between the employee and the employer (e.g. the written statement of employment particulars not received in time).

Workplace Disputes – Workplace Disputes may occur due to wrongful behavior, such as bullying or harassment, unfair treatment, or wrongful dismissal. Managing disputes can happen internally and informally, but it can also escalate into formal procedures of raising grievances.

Employment Claims – An employee may make a legal claim to an employment tribunal due to unlawful treatment at work.

Redundancy or Unfair Dismissal – Redundancy is a form of dismissal that occurs when an employer has to reduce their workforce. Employees have right to a proper and fair selection process. An employer can also dismiss an employee when they have committed gross misconduct, or shown poor performance. If an employee believes this is unfair, he or she may make a claim.

How can Juris Matrix Solicitors help?

Not all employment issues or disputes immediately require legal representation. Oftentimes, a lot of the issues you face can be resolved through mediation and negotiation. Juris Matrix Solicitors have thus partnered with Sharper-Labs Global, a HR and Legal consultancy that specialises in employment issues. Legal consultants from Sharper-Labs will be able to provide you with legal advice, regardless of whether you are an employer or an employee.

If you are an employer, the legal consultants may aid you in reviewing or drafting employment contracts, advise you on arranging an international mediation in your workplace, and ensure that your dismissal process has been fair.

If you are an employee, the consultants will be able to prepare documents and evidence to make your claim, arrange a trade union representative for your case, and prepare you before any internal negotiations with your employer.

However, if an issue further escalates and cannot be resolved through negotiation, employment solicitors from Juris Matrix are here to defend and represent you at an employment tribunal, or even the court of law.
